Reflection

All three of my artifacts: academic, personal, and professional are similar to each other because they all came out and occurred during a time of desperation and a need for help. My academic artifact occurred when my school’s community was struggling as a whole due to the recent loss of a member of the community to suicide. My professional artifact occurred around Thanksgiving time when my friends and I knew families in our city did not have proper Thanksgiving meals and we did not want to leave them without having a meal that Thanksgiving so chose to volunteer our time for the annual food drive. My personal artifact came from a time when my friends and I did not like who was elected as president and the direction our country was headed toward and instead of staying silent we chose to use our frustration and anger to turn it into helping others while advocating for what we believe in by creating our non-profit organization Project 4293 Inc.

These three artifacts all relate to and are similar to each other because I feel like they exemplify a good understanding and look into my personality and how I like to volunteer my time and help others. Looking at these three artifacts side by side allows me to see that my composition is a reflection of my personality: helpful and caring. It shows that compositions made by me can be many different things from essays to pictures to social media accounts. My composing process shifted from the three artifacts because each one was a different form of composition. For example, my academic artifact was an essay, my professional artifact was a picture I took, and my personal artifact was a screenshot of an Instagram account that I ran. My composing process remained the same though because all of these artifacts came out of the goodness of my heart. I feel like that is also what my artifacts say about me collectively as a composer because I compose from within and compose by making good out of bad.

Before looking deeper into these artifacts I did not really think or pay attention to the fact that I am a person who likes helping, I kind of just help and began to go along with it like it is something every person should do or want to do out of the goodness of their hearts. Now further looking into them I realize that not everybody around me helps others on a regular basis. Others live their lives oblivious to their surroundings and what is going on around them or just straight up choose to ignore it either out of hatred or laziness.

Looking further into these artifacts I feel like they can help me in my future. I most likely can see myself doing something to help others in my line of profession. Although I am a marketing major, I can use that to my advantage and help other non-profit organizations by marketing for them and getting their goals out and work out into the open in my free time as a side job that I do for free or for a low cost. I could possibly also help them find bigger opportunities for their organizations and plan events for them and partner them up with other companies that can aid them by giving them money or by launching programs that they partially sponsor or fully fund. These artifacts have aided me in looking at my past, present, and future and have helped me realize that I like and still want to better the world and our society that we live in.
